This Vase is THE Gift for Your Fossil-Loving Loved One! Oceanic means "Marble with Fossils"!
What do you buy for a family member who is a rockhound, aspiring paleontologist, or lover of all things unusual? A vase made out of marble with fossil inclusions, namely an "ocean graveyard" from perhaps the Cretaceous era or a little newer.
SPESHSTONES has hand crafted a vase out of marble, which initially appears to be a mottled gray stone, but, upon close examination, has all sorts of tiny sea creatures fossilized within it. I was able to identify crinoid stems, brachiopods, bryozoans, and sponge or coral on the highly polished surface. So this is not just any gray colored stone or concrete.
The vase is a little over five inches in height and is weighty and well constructed, with very thick walls. There is definitely a sense of the vase being handmade, as the inside of the vase is not polished. I am not certain that it would be a good time to keep water in it for a long time, but, for occasional use, I could see this as a beautiful blossom vase for a few tulips or a magnolia or hydrangea.
For less that $40 a handmade item of this type is hard to beat. I would anticipate that each vase will be unique, and with all of the fossils, there is plenty to explore. It is a good value and something I would highly recommend, especially if there is a budding scientist in the family. A nicely produced product. Beautiful craftsmanship.
Another winner from SPESHSTONES!
SPESHSTONES strikes again! I have a few stone items from this company, and I love them all. Even though I knew what the measurements of this vase were, I was pleasantly surprised at the size. It just "feels" bigger than I had expected, and it's really heavy because it's marble. Note that my black vase is quite different from the product photo. That's to be expected from natural stone and, truthfully, I think mine is much prettier than the product photo.
Shipped so quickly and packed perfectly! This would be an amazing housewarming or wedding gift. Truly a statement piece. I love it!

A 5-inch handmade natural marble flower vase in a globe form — 5 inches tall, 4 inches wide, water safe, felt bottom included, smooth polished neck opening, available in six genuine stone colors — that holds fresh flowers, artificial stems, and dried botanicals on a coffee table, side table, shelf, or dining table as a compact round vase with the visual weight of a designed stone object. With 9 verified reviews confirming real-world performance across living rooms, shelves, and centerpiece setups, this is the most reviewed marble flower vase in the Speshstones Home Decor collection.
What This Marble Globe Flower Vase Includes
- Globe / elongated sphere form — 5 inches tall × 4 inches wide: The vase has a wide round belly narrowing to a smooth polished neck opening at the top — an elongated sphere that is taller than it is wide. The 4-inch footprint keeps the vase compact on a coffee table, bedside table, or shelf without claiming significant surface space. At 5 inches tall the globe vase has enough height to display fresh stems with visible blooms above the neck — the lifestyle image confirms white daisy stems extending 8–10 inches above the neck on a round wood coffee table in a Scandinavian living room
- Water safe — holds fresh flowers directly: Unlike the unsealed travertine vases in the Speshstones collection, this polished marble globe is water safe — fill with water and fresh cut flowers for a natural stone fresh flower display. The polished marble finish creates a denser surface than unsealed travertine, reducing water absorption through the stone walls. Standard fresh flower care applies — change the water every 2–3 days and trim the stems
- Smooth polished neck opening — confirmed from features infographic: The neck rim is carefully finished to a smooth, rounded edge — no rough or sharp stone edges that could damage delicate flower stems during insertion or removal. The polished rim is visible in both the top-down view and the features infographic which confirms "a smooth, gentle opening that feels premium in use"
- Pre-attached circular felt bottom pad — confirmed from features infographic: A circular felt pad is pre-attached to the flat base of each vase — visible in the base-up view in the features infographic. The felt pad prevents the 1.27 kg marble vase from scratching wood coffee tables, glass shelves, polished counters, and lacquered furniture during placement and repositioning. The infographic confirms: "Designed with a felt base for stability and safe placement on any tabletop"
- Six genuine natural stone color options: Brown · Travertine · Green Onyx · Beige · White · Black — each carved from a different natural stone variety with distinct veining, tone, and surface character. The Black variant — shown in the lifestyle image and the features infographic — has dramatic large white calcite inclusions on a deep black base, creating a bold high-contrast black and white marble vase pattern. Every vase is unique — the exact veining, calcite inclusion distribution, and tonal character of your specific piece will differ from product images
Why a Polished Marble Globe Vase Works Better Than Ceramic and Glass Alternatives
A ceramic flower vase has a uniform glazed surface — consistent in color and texture across the full exterior. It reads as a manufactured object at table height whether or not it contains flowers. A glass vase is transparent — the stem bases, water line, and any internal arrangement supports are visible from every angle, which is fine for fresh flowers but creates a display problem for artificial arrangements where the plastic stems show through. A polished marble flower vase handles both of these display challenges differently. The opaque marble walls conceal everything below the neck — water level, stem bases, and arrangement supports are invisible. The natural stone exterior has inherent visual character at table or shelf height that no ceramic or glass alternative can provide — the large white calcite inclusions on the Black variant, the warm fossil pitting of the Travertine variant, and the dramatic banded amber-green of the Green Onyx variant each read as genuinely unique material objects. The features infographic confirms: "each piece carries unique pours and timeless beauty."
As a coffee table vase the 5-inch globe form sits in proportion to a standard round coffee table — large enough to register as a centerpiece without overwhelming the table surface. The lifestyle image confirms this directly — the Black marble globe on a round oak coffee table beside a rattan chair and a stack of books reads as the focal point of a styled living room setup without blocking sight lines across the table. The 1.27 kg stone weight keeps the vase in position during flower arrangement and stem changes without sliding on the table surface. For small decorative vases use on a bedside nightstand, bathroom vanity, or home office desk, the 4-inch base footprint fits on narrow surfaces where a larger vase would overwhelm the space — a single stem of eucalyptus or a small fresh flower bunch in the narrow neck reads as a complete styled display on a compact surface.
As a decorative stone vase for a living room, dining room, or entryway, the globe form has a sculptural presence independent of any flowers placed in it. The Black marble variant particularly demonstrates this — the bold white calcite veining on a high-gloss polished black base reads as a black marble accent piece and a round black vase simultaneously. For buyers building an interior around a black and white decor palette, the Black marble globe coordinates with black metal hardware, white walls, and natural wood surfaces without requiring a direct material match. For buyers building a warm organic modern setup, the Travertine, Beige, or Brown variants coordinate naturally with rattan, linen, and warm wood furniture — the same Scandinavian organic modern aesthetic confirmed in the lifestyle image backdrop.
Materials & Craftsmanship
This marble flower vase is hand-carved from genuine natural marble — a metamorphic rock formed when limestone is subjected to extreme geological heat and pressure, recrystallizing the calcium carbonate into the dense, interlocking crystal structure that gives marble its characteristic hardness, weight, and natural veining. The globe form — including the curved belly, the narrow neck, the smooth polished rim, and the flat base — is carved from a single block of natural marble per vase. The polished finish applied to the full exterior and the neck opening creates the high-gloss surface visible in the lifestyle image and the features infographic — polished marble is denser and less porous than matte or honed marble surfaces, which contributes to the water-safe status of this vase. The Black variant shown throughout the product images has large white calcite inclusions embedded in the deep black marble base — the calcite patches are natural mineral formations within the stone, not painted or applied surface treatments. The Green Onyx variant has the dramatic banded amber-cream-green tones of Pakistani green onyx. Travertine has the warm beige-cream tone with characteristic natural surface pitting. Brown has warm earthy marble tones with natural variation. Beige is a soft warm neutral stone. White has clean bright marble with subtle natural grey marking. Because each vase is carved from a separate natural stone block, the exact calcite inclusion distribution, veining, and tonal character of your specific piece will differ from product images — that natural variation confirms genuine marble rather than a ceramic or resin substitute with a printed stone pattern.

How to Care for Your Marble Globe Flower Vase
This natural stone vase is hand wash only — do not put it in the dishwasher and do not use abrasive cleaning tools on the polished marble surface. For fresh flower use, empty the vase completely every 2–3 days — tip the water out, wipe the interior with a soft cloth, and refill with fresh water before replacing the flowers. When the vase is empty, wipe the full exterior globe surface and the interior of the neck with a soft damp cloth to remove water marks, stem residue, and dust. For a deeper clean, apply a small amount of mild pH-neutral soap to a damp cloth, wipe the full exterior and interior neck surfaces, rinse with a clean damp cloth, and dry immediately. Do not allow standing water to sit in the vase for extended periods — even though the polished marble surface is water safe for normal flower vase use, prolonged water contact can gradually affect the stone surface over time. Do not use vinegar, lemon juice, citrus-based sprays, or bleach on any marble surface — these permanently etch and dull the polished finish across all six color variants. The White variant is particularly sensitive to acidic contact — use only clean water or pH-neutral soap for this color. Check the felt base pad periodically — if the pad wears or detaches over time, replace with a standard self-adhesive felt furniture pad available at any hardware store.

Frequently Asked Questions
Fresh flower use notes:
- Fill with water: Add water through the smooth polished neck opening before inserting fresh flower stems — the polished marble surface is dense enough to hold water without significant absorption through the stone walls
- Water changes: Change the water every 2–3 days and trim the flower stems at a diagonal cut to extend the life of fresh flowers in the vase
- After use: Empty and wipe the interior with a soft damp cloth after the flowers finish — do not allow stale water to sit in the vase for extended periods
- Stem types: Cut flowers with standard stem widths fit through the smooth polished neck opening — roses, daisies, tulips, eucalyptus, and small bouquet arrangements confirmed from product images
This is the key difference between this polished marble globe and the Travertine Marble Flower Vase in the Speshstones collection — the travertine vase is unsealed and not water safe. This polished marble globe is water safe and works with fresh flowers.
- Fresh flowers: White daisies (confirmed from lifestyle image) · single stem roses · tulips · ranunculus · small hydrangea clusters · eucalyptus · fresh garden stems. The narrow neck keeps stems upright without needing floral foam
- Dried flowers: Dried pampas grass · dried lavender · dried lunaria · cotton stems · dried botanicals — all suit the narrow neck opening
- Artificial flowers: High-quality faux stems in any variety — the opaque marble walls conceal artificial stem bases completely, unlike a glass vase where plastic stems show through
- Single stem display: One statement stem — a single large peony, sunflower, or tropical leaf — in the narrow neck creates a Japanese ikebana-inspired minimalist arrangement that suits the sculptural marble globe form
The Black marble variant in particular creates a strong high-contrast backdrop for white or cream flowers — the dramatic black and white stone pattern behind white blooms creates a striking display.

After fresh flower use:

- Deeper clean: Apply a small amount of mild pH-neutral soap to a damp cloth — wipe all surfaces, rinse with clean damp cloth, dry immediately
What to avoid:
- Do not use vinegar, lemon juice, citrus sprays, or bleach — these permanently etch the polished marble surface across all six color variants
- White variant is particularly acid-sensitive — use only clean water or pH-neutral soap
- Do not put in the dishwasher
- Do not use abrasive cloths or scouring pads on the polished surface
